Thomas Fenwick and his wife Harriett arrived to Australia in 1844 on the immigrant ship Royal Saxon. He managed the Peterborough Estate and later farmed on Lot 1 of the Bassett/Darley Estate on Stoney Range. In 1870 Thomas was on a management committee when a company was formed with 250 shares at £1 each for management of the dairy farmers export of butter. In 1872 Shellharbour men sent 120 casks to England (ref. Green Meadows William A. Bayley). The Fenwick farm and buildings are shown on the public auction January 1900 lithograph sale of dairy farms. Thomas was an Alderman 1863-1884 of the Municipality of Shellharbour, and Mayor 1872 and 1878. (ref. Tongarra Museum lithograph). Thomas was also a relief school teacher at Shellharbour Public School for Richard Hall who left to teach at Omega school in 1881.
