To Mr Robert Smith. Provenance and SignifcanceRobert and Ann Borrowdale, and their five children, Joseph, Robert, George, Isabella and John, arrived in Australia in 31 October 1854 on board the 'Stamboul'.
Members of the family eventually settled at Numbaa in the Shoalhaven.
Robert and Anne's granddaughter, Annie Borrowdale, married Robert Smith at Nowra in 1894. The couple moved to Stockyard Mountain at Albion Park and farmed at 'Cooby'.
Robert and Annie had six children; Charles, Vina (married Arthur Albert Robb), Amelia (married Frederick Richard Ball), Edward, George (married Rita Simpson) and Joseph.
George Cubitt Arnold moved to Shellharbour Village with his wife Mary Ann nee: Szarka and family c1872. George was a baker and had previously been in the bakery business in Kiama in 1870, having moved from Campbelltown.DonorSmith, Joseph Borrowdale
