The land for this site was donated by Hicks Bros.(Bacon Curers of Shellharbour) to the Allowrie Division Order of Sons and Daughters of Temperance to build a meeting hall.
James Caldwell laid the foundation stone on 26 March 1883. In the 1920's the former temperance hall became the pictorium, screening silent movie pictures.
It was later called the Empire Theatre and featured talking movies until 1960.
The hall was demolished for housing in 1969.DonorSister Carmel
