The first sandstone building was built by W James and opened for Divine Service on 13 March 1859 by Rev. P.J. Smith. By the early 1880's the stone work had crumbled so badly that a new church had to be built .

The foundation was laid for the new building Jan 1884 by Miss Annie Reddall . The completed structure was opened on 24 March 1886.DonorSister Carmel
