John J W (Wallace) Sproule was born to Annie and William Sproule, at Kiama in 1892. He lived for a time at Albion Park when he was a boy.

Wallace became a teacher and worked at many schools in New South Wales over the years. He married Irene Elizabeth Stinson at Coolamon in 1925 and they had four children, Betty, Beryl, Bill and Robbie.

Wallace and Irene lived at Albion Park for many years, while Wallace was headmaster at Tullimbar Public School. In 1943 the family moved to Bombo, when Wallace took a position at Bombo School.
