Provenance and SignifcanceIn 1879, Gabriel Timbs built his Albion Park Hotel on the site, a two-storied building consisting of 12 large rooms with balcony and verandah on two sides. James Condon moved across from the 'old' Albion Hotel site to become licensee of Gabriel’s 'new' Albion Park Hotel or in Gabriel’s correct pronunciation his ‘Otel’.
Gabriel sold the hotel to Edward Boland Bendon, who in 1884 sold it to John and Margaret Martin. The Martins catered for many grand dinners, notably the luncheon for the opening celebration of the new 1884 Dairy Factory in Calderwood Road Albion Park.
The hotel was again sold to James O’Gorman in 1908, and the O’Gorman family continued until after WW11. Subsequent owners have refurbished and altered the hotel, currently single storey, retaining the name Albion Park Hotel.
