It was named' Macquarie Gift', and was under the management of William Wilson. Johnston’s son David, later received two grants of land known as 'Johnston’s Meadows' on the western side of the 'Macquarie Gift'.

One of Johnston's daughters, Blanche married Lieutenant Weston in 1829.

The Johnston's Meadows Estate was inherited by their descendants who renamed it 'Weston's Meadows Estate'.
