The Parkinson family began manufacturing in Wollongong in 1883.
James Parkinson started a small cordial factory at Cooma in 1872. He moved to Bombala and exhibited his cordial manufacturing machinery at the Bombala Agricultural Show in 1876.
In 1883 James came to Wollongong and was employed as manager of a cordial factory owned by William Osborne.
Soon after he started his own company at North Wollongong where he stayed for about 15 years, before moving the business to Crown Street, Wollongong, and then Kenny Street, Wollongong. In 1935 Parkinson's purchased the Lockett Bros factory at Woonona.
