This sewing machine was originally owned by Annie Borrowdale and used at 'Cooby' farm, Albion Park. Provenance and SignifcanceRobert and Ann Borrowdale, and their five children, Joseph, Robert, George, Isabella and John, arrived in Australia in 31 October 1854 on board the 'Stamboul'.
Members of the family eventually settled at Numbaa in the Shoalhaven.
Robert and Anne's granddaughter, Annie Borrowdale, married Robert Smith at Nowra in 1894. The couple moved to Stockyard Mountain at Albion Park and farmed at 'Cooby'.
Robert and Annie had six children; Charles, Vina (married Arthur Albert Robb), Amelia (married Frederick Richard Ball), Edward, George (married Rita Simpson) and Joseph.DonorSmith, Joseph Borrowdale
