Measuring Chain includes links, rods and perches with steel pegs. Every 100 links is a brass marker.

25 Links = 1 Rod, Pole or Perch

40 Poles = 1 Rood (I acre)

100 Links = 22 Yards.

Provenance and Signifcance‘Cooby’ was built on land originally granted to J. Paul (1400 acres) and issued in 1833.

The Coughrane family owned ‘Cooby’ from the late 1800’s. Mr. Robert Coughrane leased ‘Cooby’, Portion 2, 69 acres, to Mr Nicholas Ball from c.1911 – 1916, where Robert Smith was occupier.

Nicholas Ball purchased the property in 1917. The Smith family later purchased ‘Cooby’.DonorSmith, Joseph Borrowdale
