'Cooby' farm was on Stockyard Mountain and the Smith family would use it to look out for ships coming to Shellharbour, in order to load up their carts with farm produce and take it to the harbour for sale.Provenance and Signifcance‘Cooby’ was built on land originally granted to J. Paul (1400 acres) and issued in 1833.
The Coughrane family owned ‘Cooby’ from the late 1800’s. Mr. Robert Coughrane leased ‘Cooby’, Portion 2, 69 acres, to Mr Nicholas Ball from c.1911 – 1916, where Robert Smith was occupier.
