Quart pots were used to measure milk delivered to homes from the milk wagon. Makers MarkSunriseProvenance and SignifcanceThis quart pot was owned and used for over 30 years, by Max Griffin, the milk man at Albion Park.
Max worked at Tongarra Mine until 1945 when he broke his foot riding in the back of a coal truck (the coal truck was used to transport the workers to and from the mine).
After this incident, the mine organised a bus service to transport the miners and Claude Harris started driving the workers from 1945.
Max then became a milkman for the area and delivered milk in cans from his horse and cart to the residents until his retirement.
Max's wife was Dawn. Dawn had been married previously and had one daughter, Cheryl.
Max's father George Griffith was the caretaker for Macquarie Pass and made sure the gutters and road were clear.
Max was 93 or 94 when he died.
