Henry Howard Stocks was born in Victoria 1900 to William Charles Martin Stocks and Lily Frances St John. Henry had several siblings.
In 1918, Henry enlisted in WWI. On his service records, his mother is listed as Lily Francis (sic) Hughes and she lived at Concord, NSW. Henry lived at Newtown.
At the time of enlistment, Henry's occupation is listed as a picture framer.
In 1931, Henry married Margaret Jamieson Pollock at Sydney. The couple lived there until some time in the 1950's when they moved to Lake Illawarra (Woodford Caravan Park) and then Warilla, where Henry worked as a carpenter and labourer.
Henry's oral history is recorded in 'The Forgotten Generation', by Warilla High Year 12 Community Studies Students, 1989.
