NameIllawarra Plum Pine and Australian Red Cedar TreeTypeFloraGeolocation[1] DescriptionThis site contains significant species including Illawarra Plum Pines (Podocarpus) and Australian Red Cedar (Toona ciliata).
Significant trees of Shellharbour are located in differing situations and locations, both indigenous and exotic. Some members of this group are landscape elements, being markers of rural and former rural holdings, either as avenues or individual specimens, now in either private and public land. Some group members are remnant of native or indigenous species.
Some native trees also provide habitat for fauna, such as food for bat colonies. Many trees are closely linked to, and integral with the cultural landscape that defines the Shellharbour local government area and the Illawarra.
