Description'Aronda' was built about 1890 on land owned by George Laurence Fuller of Dunmore. In 1917, on the death of her father, Edith Fuller inherited the property. She sold it in the mid 1920’s to Ellen and Polly Arnold who lived in the home and operated a two-story boarding house that once stood next door.

Ellen and Polly were the sisters of Rachel Arnold, who married Thomas James of 'Rosemont' Dunmore. Jemima James, the youngest child of Rachel and Thomas, attended Shellharbour Public School with her sister Grace. After school, the girls would spend time with their Aunts Polly and Ellen at the guesthouse across the road while waiting for their older sisters to pick them up in the horse and sulky, and take them home to the farm at Dunmore. Jemima and Grace would swing on the hammock on the balcony, watching the ships passing by the harbour.

John Thomas James inherited 'Aronda' on the death of his Aunt Ellen in 1964.
